Direction for the Future Army
In order to meet the needs of the future battlefield and force transformation, the Army will utilize highly advanced information technology to provide asset visibility on all forces. Expanding the use of commercial technology and resources allows for integrated civilian and military operations. The Army is developing a combat-unit oriented logistics support system by modernizing the logistics support system that maintains and provides high-quality goods on time, in the proper quantity, for the right location.
Establish an integrated logistics information system for asset visibility
We aim to establish an integrated asset management system by connecting all logistic units, organizations and industries with the Integrated Logistics Information System (ILIS). The ILIS will provide asset visibility on supply and demand related activities from combat units to Army Headquarters. In addition, the Army plans to provide the best logistic support for its soldiers, creating a synergistic effect in combat capabilities by linking command and control(C2) systems to the ILIS.
Integrate commercial and military assets by expanding the use of commercial off the shelf technologies and resources.
Through the expanded use of commercial equipment, the Army plans to establish a military logistics system linked to the national distribution system. A cost-efficient and highly effective logistics support system and national-level logistics readiness is achieved through the integration of civil and military offices in the fields of procurement, supply, maintenance, transportation, land and facility management.
Establish a combat unit oriented logistic support system.
To ensure operational sustainability, a logistics support system centered on the combat units will be devised by creating and Army Corps Logistical Support Brigade. Under the Army Corps logistics support system, the Logistics Support Brigade will provide logistical support in peacetime and wartime; simplify the supply-maintenance support system.
Supply demands will be automatically handled through a web-based asset management system. Supplies will be delivered "One-Stop" to the combat units through and integrated distribution system.
Prompt maintenance is performed by focusing on module accessories exchanges. Its development is an on-site maintenance system utilizing remote maintenance support, portable automatic maintenance equipment and web-based electronic technical manuals.
Develop a comprehensive "Military Town."To ensure stable long-term stationing and cost-effective military facilities, "Military Towns" will be built in conjunction with government and local authorities National Comprehensive Territorial Plan (NCTP). Considerations will be made for land, barracks, residences, welfare facilities, and support complex.
